Pastry Cook
Freedom Village at Brandywine is recruiting for a hospitality-focused Pastry Cook to join its team. This job is full-time, with the hours being 6 AM-2:30 PM on weekdays and every other weekend. The starting pay rate is $18-$20/hr based on experience.
Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Pastry Cook:
- Responsible for preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc.
- Decorating pastries using different icings, toppings, etc., to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting.
- Working with the Executive Chef on developing new menu items, tastings, and staying on top of trends.
- Responsible for developing relationships with vendors.
- Monitors stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, etc., and makes appropriate orders within budget.
- Maintains a clean and orderly cooking station and adheres to health and safety standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Here are a few of the qualifications you need to have:
- A degree from a Culinary Arts school is preferred; however, additional experience may be substituted for education.
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, baker, or relevant role.
- Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten-free, sugarless, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and days. Must exhibit top-notch teamwork.
- Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking, or relevant field, preferred.

Certified Nursing Aide
Freedom Village is seeking full-time and part-time CNAs to join its skilled nursing clinical team. They currently have openings on evenings 3 PM – 11 PM. The starting pay range for this position is $18/hr with exceptional shift differentials too. Actual salary may fall outside of the posted salary range as it is dependent on skills and experience.
Freedom Village is currently offering a $500 sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities in this position include:
- Assist residents with dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting, and exercising.
- Give treatments, perform tests, carry out procedures, and collect specimens as instructed.
- Report and record observations and results of treatments, tests, procedures, and specimens when indicated.
- Transfer, transport, and escort residents as needed.
- Answer signal lights promptly.
- Change bed linens, make beds, and keep rooms clean and orderly.
- Work as a member of the team.

Qualifications for this position include:
- Successful completion of a state-approved geriatric nursing assistant training program. Prior geriatric Long Term Care (LTC) nursing aide experience is preferred. Registration with State registry required.

Registered Nurse
Freedom Village at Brandywine is hiring an RN to work Monday-Friday 3 PM-11 PM. The starting range for RN’s is $40/hr plus shift differential. **Actual salary may fall outside of the posted salary range as it is dependent on skills and experience.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of medications, treatments, documentation, and emergency call lights, inside the skilled nursing center.
Responsibilties in this position include:
- Administer medication and treatments to residents of our healthcare center.
- Assist with the admission and discharge process.
- Keep the physician and family aware of changes in the resident’s condition.
- Make rounds with physicians and transcribe orders.
- Assure continuity of services and care.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Registered nurse with a current license in community’s state.
- 6 months of experience in geriatric nursing/ Long Term Care.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Can generate a warm, friendly, and caring manner on first impression.
- Can communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
