Plymouth Meeting’s 1912 Club Hosts Event with Philly Sports Royalty

The Jefferson Health APGA Classic brings stars and rising talent to Plymouth Meeting’s 1912 Club for a 3-day celebration of golf and growth.

The 1912 Club in Plymouth Meeting played host this week to the Jefferson Health APGA Classic, writes Tyler DelPercio for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The event brings together rising golf talent and Philadelphia sports legends for a three-day celebration of opportunity and inclusion.

Now in its second year, the Advocates Professional Golf Association event kicked off Sunday with a star-studded Pro-Am, featuring appearances by Eagles legend Brandon Graham, Sixers executive Jameer Nelson, and broadcasters Mike Quick and Ike Reese. A youth clinic followed, welcoming kids onto the green to learn from the pros.

Fifty-six APGA Tour players are competing over 36 holes for an $80,000 purse. The tour aims to support minority golfers who often lack access to elite courses and resources. “This is a segue for these guys to be able to come out and work on their craft and hopefully progress,” said Nelson.

Last year’s champion, Chase Johnson, went on to qualify for the 2025 U.S. Open—proof that this event can change lives.

For Graham, now retired, the tournament is about more than golf. “For me, I feel like I have a duty to be on this platform to spread the love,” he said.
