For little ones with a love for animals, Montgomery County is full of kid-friendly spots where barnyard snuggles and up-close encounters are part of the experience, writes Corrie Stango for Mommy Poppins.
Rose Bridge Farm and Sanctuary – Dresher
This rescue sanctuary offers a warmhearted blend of animal care and love. Kids can bottle-feed baby goats and calves, snuggle kittens and bunnies, and steal a smooch at the camel kissing booth. The sanctuary also hosts events throughout the year, including goat hikes.
Merrymead Farm – Lansdale
Merrymead is more than just a place with incredible ice cream. It is also home to classic farm animals like donkeys, cows, goats, and a resident peacock. The charming grounds are stroller-friendly and perfect for young families to explore.
Sandy Hill Farm – Plymouth Meeting
Sandy Hill is an appointment-based farm with pigs, ponies, and fun barn-themed playground. It’s a go-to for riding lessons and small group birthday parties. Be sure to check their schedule before you plan your visit.
Elmwood Park Zoo – Norristown
Montco’s only zoo packs a punch with giraffe feedings, otter encounters, and a barnyard full of grain-hungry goats and sheep. It’s walkable, manageable, and a great first zoo for young kids.
