Bigshot Archery in Elverson recorded significant growth last year, partly driven by its technology that uses augmented reality to help archers verify ethical shots, writes Brian Whipkey for the Bucks County Courier Times.
Bigshot, which acquired Iowa-based Delta McKenzie Targets in November 2023, manufactures approximately 100 archery-related products available online and in sporting goods stores nationwide.
“We’re one of the biggest 3D manufacturers in the world,” said Brandon Perelli, director of sales for Bigshot Archery and Delta McKenzie Targets.
The rise in people participating in archery in recent years has been beneficial for the company.
“We saw a big rise during the pandemic as people were looking for things to do,” said Perelli. “We’ve been seeing double-digit growth since the pandemic. Bigshot itself grew 34 percent last year.”
What is keeping the company at the top is its QuivAR technology, released last year.
The targets equipped with this technology are linked to a mobile app, which connects to a cellphone and reveals whether an arrow would have impacted the vital organs or bones of an animal.
“You can see inside the animal, see the vitals on an augmented reality platform,” said Perelli.
