This June, The Mill marks a decade as a beloved local restaurant with a week-long celebration featuring throwback pricing, live music, giveaways, and community appreciation from Jun. 24-28, following the official 10-year anniversary on Jun. 23.

But The Mill’s roots stretch back much further than 10 years.

The building, known historically as The Kulpsville Feed Mill, dates to circa 1894 and served the community for nearly 80 years as a general store and supplier of feed, flour, coal, and farm goods. Over the years, it changed hands — from Henry S. Kulp to Charles T. Hedrick and later Russell Detwiler — before being repurposed in the late 20th century and eventually transformed into the family-run restaurant it is today.

Today, under the stewardship of Dan and Marie Moore and their three daughters, The Mill is not only a destination for handcrafted comfort food, wood-fired pizzas, and creative items, but also a living museum of sorts. Guests can enjoy their meals surrounded by restored mill wheels, pulleys, original doors, and historic memorabilia uncovered during the 2015 renovation by the Moore Family.

“We’re proud to celebrate both our family’s journey and the legacy of this historic building,” said Danielle Moore. “The Mill is more than a restaurant — it’s a piece of Kulpsville’s past that continues to serve the community in a new way.”
