Pottstown will commemorate Memorial Day with a community parade and remembrance ceremony on Monday, May 26. The parade will begin at 10:00 AM on High Street at the Goodwill Steam Fire Engine Company, 714 E. High Street, and will proceed to Memorial Park. A ceremony will follow at 11:00 AM at Veterans’ Island, a dedicated space honoring those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Established in 2014, Veterans’ Island is a serene and well-maintained section of Memorial Park designed to pay tribute to America’s veterans. It features monuments honoring World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The Walk of Honor includes more than 3,200 engraved bricks—each one personalized with a dedication. The Veterans’ Island Project team and local volunteers continue to ensure this sacred space remains a meaningful destination for reflection and gratitude.
Memorial Park is not only a place of honor but also a vibrant community space. Parkgoers can enjoy the Fountain of Youth Spray Park, Trilogy BMX track, a skateboard park, mini golf, playgrounds, ball fields, and picnic pavilions.
The park is also part of the Pottstown Tourism and Recreation District (TRec District), a unique initiative established as a result of Pottstown Area Economic Development’s (PAED) recognition of the Borough’s recreational and cultural offerings. The district includes attractions such as the Colebrookdale Railroad, the Carousel at Pottstown, Pottsgrove Manor, Riverfront Park, and the Schuylkill River Trail.
With 13 parks across more than 118 acres, Pottstown offers a rich mix of outdoor activities in a town steeped in history and natural beauty.
