The annual progress report by Pottstown Area Economic Development (PAED) has highlighted updates on some of the town’s biggest development projects, writes Andrew Kulp for The Times Herald.

During the event on Wednesday, PAED presented artist renderings of the proposed Iron Globe Entertainment Complex. The planned 2,200-seat outdoor music venue would be placed along the Schuylkill River between the borough’s north and south ends.

“The site will host high-profile music acts, food and beverage menus, and family fun activities such as ice skating and drive-in movies,” said PAED executive director Peggy Lee-Clark.

A 15-minute video provided a behind-the-scenes look at three of the most impactful ongoing projects in Pottstown, including The Mercury Hotel, Pottstown Sustainable Energy Park, and Pottstown Plating Works remediation and redevelopment.

Lee-Clark also provided updates on several other significant improvements for the area, including the opening of the Challenger Learning Center building at Montgomery County Community College and a new kayaking outpost.

The event also unveiled the nonprofit PAED. Last year, the organization rebranded from Pottstown Area Industrial Development.

The nonprofit described its rebrand as “a symbolic reflection of the revitalization through innovation and re-imagining Pottstown as a major economic hub.”
