A celebration of achievement, perseverance, and community spirit will take center stage at Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) on Thursday, May 15, as the institution hosts its 58th annual Commencement Ceremonies.
This year’s graduation marks a major milestone for 1,263 students who will receive a combined total of 1,299 degrees and certificates. The College will honor its newest alumni in three ceremonies scheduled for 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 6:00 PM at the Health Sciences Center Main Gym on MCCC’s Blue Bell Campus. A livestream of all ceremonies will be available here.
The one-hour ceremonies will feature a rich lineup of student, faculty, and community voices. Opening with a musical tribute from Kayla Horger of Pennsburg, Class of 2025, each ceremony includes remarks from MCCC President Dr. Victoria L. Bastecki-Perez, Board of Trustees Member Donald Lyons, and representatives from the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. The student speaker, Ruby Armor of Lansdale, Class of 2025, will share reflections on her journey and hopes for the graduating class.
Adding a creative touch, students from the College’s Sound Recording and Music Technology Program will debut an original song, “Chase Our Dreams,” composed and produced to commemorate the occasion.
The 6:00 PM ceremony will feature a special moment of distinction: Joshu’wa Reid, a Mechanical Engineering Science major from Lansdale, will be formally recognized as one of just 90 students nationwide selected for the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Chosen from over 1,600 applicants, Reid will receive up to $55,000 per year for three years to continue his education. Selection for the award is based on academic excellence, leadership, determination, and financial need.
“This event is not only a celebration of academic achievement but a testament to the resilience and aspirations of our students,” said Bastecki-Perez. “They are future leaders, innovators, and changemakers.”
This year’s graduating class reflects the strength and diversity of the MCCC community:
- 462 are first-generation college graduates.
