Lower Merion represents Montco as one of the best school districts in Pennsylvania, writes Ethan Lott for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The Pittsburgh Business Times collected the 2025 rankings based on standardized test scores with three local school districts in the top 25. Lower Merion ranked number 3 in Pennsylvania. Known for academic excellence, Lower Merion consistently ranks near the top with high scores in math, English, and science.
Colonial School District, serving Plymouth, Whitemarsh, and Conshohocken, came in at number 22. Blue Bell’s Wissahickon School District came in at number 25. All three districts are recognized for strong student outcomes and continued investments in high-quality education.
Just outside of Montgomery County, Radnor School District ranked number 4 in the state, and Bucks County’s New Hope-Solebury School District ranked at 15.
The rankings are compiled using statistics from the past three years of Pennsylvania System of School Assessment data. The study looks at the percentage of students in each district who place in the top with math and reading.
