Jeanne Sorg, Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds, has been named one of the 2025 Top Influencers in Local Government by ELGL (Engaging Local Government Leaders), a national group that honors public servants who embody values like creativity, equity, connection, and joy in their daily work.
Jeanne Sorg is the only Pennsylvanian selected this year. Her inclusion coincides with Public Service Recognition Week: May 5–9. The annual list honors 100 standout local leaders from across the country—and Sorg stands out for her commitment to public access and innovation.
Serving a county of nearly one million residents, Sorg has prioritized making government more accessible. Through initiatives like Montco Roots, she educates residents on how to use public records to trace family and property histories. She’s also took her services out into the community, traveling the county to meet people where they are.
Her active, personable presence on social media has made her office approachable and transparent. “My goal has always been to make the Recorder of Deeds more accessible,” Sorg said. “To be included in this list, alongside of these powerhouses in local government means a lot to me.”
