Maple Glen Couple Revives Ambler Farmers Market with New Approach

Ambler Farmers Market returns May 17 under new leadership with 22 vendors, a nonprofit mission, and a focus on community and connection.

After years of dwindling turnout, the Ambler Farmers Market is making a spirited comeback for the 2025 season, writes Rachel Ravina for The Reporter.

Maple Glen couple Andrew and Kelly Gaess, driven by a love of fresh food and a desire to reconnect their community, stepped up to lead the beloved market’s revival, which kicks off Saturday, May 17, at 9 a.m. at the corner of Maple and Butler Avenues.

Longtime patrons of the Ambler market themselves, the Gaesses noticed vendor numbers dropping and decided to act. What started as a venting session during a run turned into action: the duo launched a vendor-first approach and formed a nonprofit, Wissahickon Bounty, to anchor their efforts. They hoped for eight vendors. They got 22.

This year’s Ambler Farmers Market features a rotating mix of Montgomery County favorites including Wake Coffee Roasters, Pennypack Farm, Kismet Bagels, Saint Rocco’s Treats, and more. Their model? Treat it like an outdoor grocery store rather than a festival.

The Gaesses credit the tight-knit farmers market community for welcoming and advising them. With guidance from vendors across the region—from Horsham to Hershey—they’ve built a sustainable model rooted in connection and consistency.
