The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board (VFTCB) raised a record $95,000 for Valley Forge National Historical Park through funds from the 19th annual Valley Forge Revolutionary 5-Mile Run (Rev Run) and 2-mile walk. More than 1,200 runners and walkers from 19 different U.S. states competed in this year’s hybrid event contributing to the record-breaking donation.
All race proceeds benefit Valley Forge National Historical Park. Since its inception in 2006, Rev Run has raised more than $800,000 for Park infrastructure improvement projects and programming to enhance the visitor experience. Project plans for the 2025 race proceeds include sign and park furnishings to improve wayfinding signs and navigation throughout the Park leading up to 2026.
“I’m so proud of how this race has grown into a favorite within our community — where the community itself remains the heart of it all,” said Kirsten Tallman, Race Director. “There’s a deep appreciation for the Park, and seeing everyone come together in one place on race day to celebrate is truly a powerful and moving experience. Each year, the race continues to evolve, offering a meaningful opportunity for stewardship and connection to the park — just as it was designed to do 19 years ago.”
Pre-event remarks at a Start Line Experience, hosted by Highmark kicked off the five-mile race and two-mile walk. The two-mile walk portion of the event was sponsored by Elmwood Park Zoo. The exclusive Finish Line Experience, also sponsored by Highmark, hosted post-race festivities including food and beer trucks, a plein air artist, and more.
All participants received a finisher medal or walk challenge coin and a Revolutionary Run commemorative t-shirt. Cash prizes with a purse totaling $1,400 were awarded to the top three male and female finishers of the in-person portion of the race. New this year, the top three male and female finishers for each age group were awarded a Rev Run-branded hat.
In addition to the in-person events, the VFTCB offers a virtual component of the race, which coincides with National Park Week, where registrants can participate virtually from anywhere in the world between Apr. 13-20. The Park has a significant economic impact on the region, generally contributing more than $40 million and several hundred jobs to the local economy.
