When Steven DeLong’s son Bradley was diagnosed with autism at age 3, the Conshohocken resident found himself overwhelmed — but not alone, writes Gabriela Carroll for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
After attending an Eagles Autism Foundation event where Bradley became overstimulated, a stranger’s kind gesture reminded him of the power of community. That moment stuck with him.
Now, DeLong is giving back in a big way — right here in Montgomery County.
Through a series of fundraisers hosted at the Daisy Tavern in Conshohocken, DeLong has raised over $20,000 for the Eagles Autism Foundation, and he’s not slowing down. His latest event even featured Eagles guard Landon Dickerson, who stopped by for autographs and photos.
“That’s the meaning of all of this for us, is that community space that we can feel safe in,” DeLong said.
The Eagles Autism Foundation has grown into a powerhouse of research funding, community grants, and inclusive sports clinics — including a major classroom upgrade at The Pathway School in Jeffersonville and new career training tools for older students with autism.
As the Foundation gears up for another record-breaking year, locals like DeLong are helping drive the momentum — one fundraiser, one photo, and one family at a time.
