The Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust’s 7th Annual Earth Day Trail Race is on Saturday, Apr. 26 at 9:00 AM. The whole family can celebrate Earth Day weekend on a scenic, mixed terrain course, choosing to run 10K, or walk or run the 5K or one mile.
The course, which runs through nature’s trails, begins and ends at the Trust’s headquarters, and is great for both beginners and seasoned trailblazers. For the first time, the 10K and 5K courses will include one of the newest acquisitions, the June Fete Fairgrounds!
Also new this year, with the help of the Southampton Library, the one-mile course will be converted into a Tale Trail, housing a Story Stroll featuring The Tortoise and the Hare, which will be fun for kids and adults alike. This event is presented in partnership with key sponsor, L.D. Davis Industries, Inc. The race will be professionally timed by the Bryn Mawr Racing Co., and there will be refreshments and prizes at the finish line.
All proceeds from the race will benefit the Pennypack Trust’s mission to protect open space and habitat. Since 1970 the Trust has been a steward to our natural areas and dedicated to educating and encouraging people to enjoy and protect the preserve’s native ecosystems. This trail race will help protect the 950+ acres of open space the Pennypack Trust now encompasses.
