Allied Universal Security Services is trimming its workforce in Conshohocken, with 72 employees set to be laid off between May and September, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The news came via a recent WARN notice filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.
The company cited a broader business restructuring as the reason for the cuts, which will affect a range of roles—from accountants and engineers to billing and tech support staff.
A spokesperson said the move is part of a company-wide effort to centralize and standardize operations to boost efficiency. Impacted employees have been offered internal opportunities, the company added.
Today, the security services giant boasts more than 770,000 employees, operations in over 100 countries, and more than $20 billion in revenue. It ranks as North America’s third-largest private employer.
Despite the restructuring, Allied Universal has been active on the acquisition front, scooping up six security firms this year alone, with a combined $240 million in revenue. Locally, it remains one of Montgomery County’s major employers.
