After moving into their new home in Ottsville early last year, John and Jennifer Cecilian transformed the 12-acre property into an animal sanctuary, writes Terri Akman for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
These days, Three Pigs Farm is home to 27 animals, including pigs, donkeys, steers, heifers, and sheep. Most of them live in a barn, three fenced paddocks, and a run-in shelter. The family’s four dogs live with them in the house.
“John and I are both big animal adoption advocates, and with our business, we were both feeling incredibly stressed,” said Jennifer.
John is CEO and Jennifer is CFO of real estate software company Cecilian Partners.
“We were looking for something that was going to give us a reconnect with nature,” she said.
They fell in love with the property when they saw its 12 acres of rolling hills. They knew the two-story house needed major updating, so they hired Doylestown’s Wolstenholme Associates to work on the architecture and interior design, along with Spring House-based Ernst Bros. + Builders.
Among other renovations, the family relocated and expanded the kitchen, added a new breakfast nook, replaced the roof, added new windows, and overhauled the landscaping.
