Take A Breather Foundation, a Narberth-based nonprofit, provides much-needed stress relief outlet for individuals living with cystic fibrosis, reports Nick Iadonisi for 6abc.
Its mission is to try and give recipients a break from the daily challenges of their illness, often by having special events which can include offering a ticket to an Eagles game, a free vacation, or even a trip to Disney World.
“Really anything that the patient wants, as long as it’s within reason of what we can provide,” said Molly McBryan, Executive Director of Take A Breather Foundation. “We do a lot of trips, sporting events, 76ers, Eagles, things of that nature.”
The organization was started by Matt McCloskey, who also lived with the disease. After he passed away last year, the responsibilities of leading the organization going forward were taken over by his sister, McBryan.
“It was his mission to give back to the CF community, and try to help as many people as he could,” said McBryan. “Living it first hand, he knew exactly what people were going through and he wanted to try to help them in whatever way he could.”
