Loretta’s bakery and cafe in Society Hill is a popular spot for pastries during Philadelphia Eagles home games, writes Hira Qureshi for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
At Loretta’s, co-owner Kelsey Bush and her team bake pop tarts, croissants, and other pastries during early mornings for the Philadelphia Eagles’ training facility.
Each Sunday, the bakery’s chefs supply between 150 and 230 pastries for the Eagles at every single home game.
“Eagles fans are extremely superstitious — we don’t mess with tradition, so we keep [all the pastries] the same for every game,” said Bush, who also co-owns Bloomsday next door.
Before the NFC Championship game against the Washington Commanders, the team at Loretta’s baked some chocolate croissants and lemon ricotta danishes for the Super Bowl-bound team.
This was a continuation of a three-year relationship between Loretta’s and the Eagles, as the pastry chefs have become a go-to.
For home games, Loretta’s bakers begin baking at 2 AM, and delivers the pastries to the NovaCare training center by 7 AM.
According to Bush, the main crowd pleasers are the cinnamon brioche, white chocolate pistachio danishes, and cherry pop tarts.
