Dr. Cherie Crosby-Weeks, Program Director of Teacher Education Programs at Manor College, was named the 2025 Educator of the Year, the institution announced during its annual Founders Day ceremony on Jan. 30.
Crosby-Weeks began her Manor College career in 2011. She is the first professor to win the award on multiple occasions.
“I am deeply grateful for this honor and for earning this award twice,” Crosby-Weeks said. “It’s been 11 years since I won it in 2014, and I remember how surprised I was then.”
The Educator of the Year award is given to a professor whose dedication and commitment go beyond the classroom. This student-nominated award honors the selected faculty member who received the most votes.
“She’s always there when I’m in need, no matter what it is, she’s available,” said Davion Chaney, a 2022 Manor College alum who returned for a bachelor’s degree this year. “She was there when I was taking care of my grandmother. When my grandmother passed away in 2024, she was there. She has patience with her students and understands us through what we are
going through. She shows the love and passion that she has for education while teaching.”
Crosby-Weeks remains motivated in her work by the dreams of her students.
“Each student who crosses my path has unique life experiences but one common goal: Obtaining a college degree to improve their lives,” she said. “From an early age, I learned that a profession should never be seen simply as a job, but one that changes lives. What I do as a Professor, Advisor, and Program Director has life-altering effects on the students who pass my
path.”
In her 30 years in education, Crosby-Weeks said she’s been committed to providing high-quality education to her students. At Manor, she enjoys the conversations with her students the most.
“I have a deep bond with the students who cross my path and I am a huge advocate for their well-being and success on campus,” she said. “I love it even more when we can connect outside of Manor for a meal at a local restaurant or a volunteering opportunity in the community.”
