Dr. Kristin Sagedy, Associate Dean of The Frances M. Maguire College of Nursing and Health Professions at Gwynedd Mercy University, was recently elected as the new President-Elect of the New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA).

Prior to her appointment, Dr. Sagedy served as President of Region 5 of the NJSNA. She was nominated as President-Elect in November and was installed on Jan. 4 for a two-year term.

“I am excited about the position, humbled by the overwhelming support of the membership, and thrilled to have the opportunity to serve nurses in New Jersey,” said Dr. Sagedy.

The two-year term as President-Elect is designed to prepare Dr. Sagedy to serve as President. After the completion of her two-year term, Dr. Sagedy will be installed as President in January of 2027.

In her new role, Dr. Sagedy will serve as Chair of the Institute for Nursing, a philanthropic organization supporting the work of NJSNA and the nurses of New Jersey. The organization develops, implements, and funds innovative projects and programs designed to influence the practice and future of nursing professionals. Dr. Sagedy will continue to serve on the NJSNA Board and will join the Executive Committee, as well.

As the President-Elect, Dr. Sagedy will participate in NJSNA Day in Trenton, N.J., and in the American Nurses Association (ANA) Day on the Hill in Washington, D.C. There, she will interact with fellow Presidents and Presidents-Elect from other states and participate in the Membership Assembly of the ANA.
