Plymouth-Whitemarsh’s Jake West Finds Confidence to Take Big Shots in Clutch Moments

Confidence did not come easily for Jake West when he was a freshman at Plymouth-Whitemarsh, but that is no longer the case.

Confidence did not come easily for Jake West when he was a freshman at Plymouth-Whitemarsh, but as a senior guard at Penn Charter, this is no longer the case, writes Aaron Carter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

That was evident on Tuesday with his 27-point outburst. West commanded the court, remaining poised under pressure, and took the crucial shots when the Quakers needed him the most during a 62-60 overtime win against host Springside Chestnut Hill.

“This was big-time, especially on the road,” said West. “Getting those road wins in the Inter-Ac is huge. It gets really rowdy, and it’s a really competitive league. So just a big road win over a team that’s really skilled.”

He has gained the confidence to take the big shots in clutch moments through tireless effort both day and night.

“Just my hard work and repetition,” said West. “In the gym, late nights, early mornings just working hard and perfecting my craft. I know I’m able to make those shots because I work really hard for them.”

West is also a social media phenomenon with over a million followers on TikTok.
