MLB Analyst Praises Norristown’s Christian Walker as Best Defensive First Baseman in League

Norristown's Christian Walker went to the Astros, and analyst Sean Casey said he's the best defensive first baseman in the league.

Norristown’s own Christian Walker is bringing his defensive skills and power bat to the Houston Astros, writes Christopher Hennessy for Clutch Points.

Walker fills Houston’s first-base void in a major offseason move after his trade from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Astros had significant losses to their personnel. Kyle Tucker and Ryan Pressly were traded to the Cubs and Alex Bregman remains a free agent. The addition of Walker is a welcome boost.

MLB Network analyst and former player Sean Casey is a big fan of the move and thinks Walker’s best baseball is still ahead of him. According to Casey, Walker will have a positive influence on his teammates. “He’s the best defensive first baseman in the league by far. He makes everyone out there defensively so much better,” Casey said.

Casey noted that Walker isn’t just a great defensive addition, pointing out that his OPS is always over 120 and he will likely hit 30 home runs.

Last season, the Astros fell short of the American League Championship for the first time since 2016. The team hopes that the Norristown baseballer will help get them back.
