West Chester-based QVC to Lead Parent Company’s Push into Social Media Shopping
Qurate Retail Group, the parent company of West Chester-based QVC, is planning a push into streaming and social media shopping, with QVC leading the charge, writes Erin McCarthy for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Qurate is also planning on changing its name to QVC Group at the start of next year.
Customers of QVC and its sister company HSN will see increased social media presence for the two networks, with additional ways to shop on different platforms, including affiliate digital storefronts and via livestreams.
The company’s goal is to create “the world’s leading live social shopping content engine,” with programming made specifically for TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and other social media platforms.
“Live social shopping is a natural evolution for us,” said David Rawlinson, Qurate’s president and CEO. “Our customers are spending dramatically more time on social media, and that is increasingly where they are finding inspiration and shopping.”
As QVC Group, Qurate aims to generate over $1.5 billion in run-rate revenue from streaming and social media within three years of its rebranding. The company believes that the rebranding, which connects it to its largest flagship brand, will help achieve these goals.
