A home in the Overbrook neighborhood that has ties to two of the world’s greatest athletes — Muhammad Ali and Kobe Bryant — is looking for a new buyer, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Ali first purchased the home for about $70,000 in 1970 and used it as a personal retreat and training base prior to his “Fight of the Century” bout against Philadelphia native, Joe Frazier in March 1971.

He lived there with his second wife, Belinda Boyd, and their children before selling it three years later.

In 1973, the home was sold to John Cox Jr. and Mildred Cox, the grandparents of Kobe Bryant and parents of his mother, Pamela.

Kobe wouldn’t be born until 5 years after the purchase; however, the Coxes owned the home throughout his childhood and legendary career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Pamela is putting the home on the market for the first time in over 50 years after the recent passing of her mother, Mildred.

It’s a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom home that spans 2,823 square feet and sits on nearly half an acre.

“You get that feeling when you go in the property. . .like Muhammad Ali sat in this kitchen,” said listing agent Nicole Klein of eXpRealty. “So I think it will be a draw.”
