Making Bryn Mawr College More Accessible Tops the Agenda for New President
New Bryn Mawr College President Wendy Cadge plans to prioritize accessibility for more students at the highly selective Montgomery County institution, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Cadge was named the tenth president of the women’s liberal arts school in April. She started her tenure in July. She had previously served as dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Science at Brandeis University.
The new president spent most of her first weeks listening to stakeholders on what they want to see in the future.
This helped her identify “mission-centric” aspects to strengthen and “where there might be space for some creative rethinking,” she said.
Those conversations will also help shape the college’s future strategic plan. Cadge will roll out the plan over the next 18 months.
Cadge is already considering the best ways to expand partnerships with community colleges. This is in an effort to keep the school available to students of all income levels.
Some future partnerships will “make it easier for students who begin their post-secondary educational experience in community colleges to transfer to Bryn Mawr, where we meet 100 percent of financial need,” she said.
