Volunteers from the entire region have rallied to help victims of Hurricane Helene in any way they can, from collecting supplies to helping pets affected by the storm, writes Beccah Hendrickson for 6abc.

Giannone Companies Towing has turned its lot in Collegeville into a drop-off site. The team is currently gathering emergency supplies for North Carolina families who lost everything in the devastation.

“Anytime we can give back to the community, we’re going to do that,” said Carmino Giannone, who is organizing the drive with his family.

Giannone’s brother is also collecting items at Sal’s Barbershop in Plymouth Meeting.

Some of Giannone’s employees have volunteered their time to drive the goods to North Carolina.

“They’re hooked up with companies down there that are actually flying things into Asheville and other areas that are just pretty much just wiped off the map at this point,” said Giannone.

The Main Line PSPCA has also added to Hurricane Helene recovery efforts by rescuing nine dogs from a Tennessee shelter impacted by the storm. The pooches will be ready to find their forever homes in around two weeks, after being quarantined and fully assessed.
