These three Montgomery County pumpkin patches let you pick straight off the vine and enjoy fall activities, like hayrides and festivals.

Pumpkin patches are the quintessential symbol of fall and it is always to grab a pumpkin from a local farm than from a grocery store, writes Hira Qureshi for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Several Montgomery County spots offer you the chance to do just that, along with partaking in many other popular fall activities and entertainment.

At Merrymead Farm in Lansdale, you can select a pumpkin from its corral of many varieties, shapes, and sizes. The farm also offers hayrides, farm animals, paintball, a wagon train ride, and a 5-acre cornfield maze, among many other fun activities. As a bonus, the market has over 32 flavors of hand-dipped ice cream.

Northern Star Farm in Trappe is hosting its 17th Annual Fall Fest with hayrides to the pumpkin patch, a corn maze, pony rides, apple slingshot, and so much more.

For a long hayride through farm fields and woods, head to Olszanowski Farm in Spring City. At the first stop, you can pick your own pumpkin, then hop back on for a 20-minute ride back to the hoop house. The farm also has a corn maze.
