A gorgeous farmhouse at 811 Oakbourne Rd in Westtown Township built in 1758 with a finely crafted extension added by Amish carpenters in 1989 has recently hit the market, writes Sandy Smith for Philadelphia Magazine

The six-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom home is set on a lovely one-acre lot that offers beautiful views throughout. The original farmhouse retains much of its historic character, making this a place where the past and present combine beautifully.

Many of the spaces inside boast modern amenities while still showcasing details from the original design. These include the charming kitchen with a fireplace and access to the flagstone patio and a living room, also with a fireplace, with access to a screened rear porch.

There are also fireplaces in all of the rooms on the stone-walled lower level. Here, stone walls combine with many built-in shelves to provide the area with additional charm and character. The family room on this level even has a wet bar.

Meanwhile, to harmonize the addition with the original house, the Amish used traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery for the support beams on the rooms on all of the floors.

This property is available for sale for $695,000.
