Montgomery County Tourism is Booming, According to Reports
Montgomery County’s tourism industry set new records in 2023, reports Justin Heinze for the Patch.
Last year, visitor spending reached $1.7 billion, contributing to a $2.4 billion economic impact, according to the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board’s (VFTCB) latest Annual Report. This surge reflects a 7% increase from the previous year and has fueled 41,000 jobs, underscoring the region’s robust economic growth.
VFTCB President and CEO Mike Bowman expressed pride in these achievements, calling the growth a testament to the team’s “dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment.” Looking ahead, county leaders are enthusiastic about upcoming events that promise even more economic benefits. In 2024, Montgomery County will host the Truist Championship, a PGA TOUR Signature Event at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown. Additionally, the county secured the US Youth Soccer Eastern Presidents Cup Championship for 2025, a prominent youth soccer event.
The excitement continues into 2026, when the neighboring city of Philadelphia will host the FIFA World Cup and MLB All-Star Game, events expected to drive significant tourism to Montgomery County. The Annual Report was revealed at a luncheon gala at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, attended by about 650 guests, including speakers and Montgomery County Commissioners Jamila Winder and Neil Makhija, highlighting the county’s dedication to fostering economic and tourism growth.
