The Elmwood Park Zoo has partnered with KeyBank to create the Zoo-On-Wheels initiative that will make the zoo experience accessible to all.

The Elmwood Park Zoo sets to launch its Zoo-On-Wheels initiative in January 2025, writes Main Line Media News.

The project aims to bring educational programming to more than 400 schools and community groups across the region. This new outreach effort will allow the zoo to connect with a wider audience and fulfill its mission of being accessible to all.

“We strive to be a zoo for everyone, and our Zoo-On-Wheels program enables us to achieve that by taking the zoo into the community,” said Elmwood Park Zoo Executive Director and CEO Al Zone in a statement.

A community partnership between the Norristown-based zoo and KeyBank made the initiative possible. A three-year sponsorship agreement, which includes branding opportunities for the bank, was formalized during an event on October 1.

“As a community-minded bank, KeyBank believes in investing in organizations that contribute to the health and vitality of the communities where we do business,” said Youseff Tannous, KeyBank’s Eastern Pennsylvania Market President. “Our new sponsorship with Elmwood Park Zoo is a great way to support the educational initiatives the zoo provides to the community, including its Zoo-On-Wheels program.”

Zone emphasized the importance of partnerships like this in expanding the zoo’s reach. “Our educational team has done a great job building up the program in recent years, but we can’t do it alone. We need community partners like KeyBank who believe in supporting non-profits and the communities they serve.”

The Zoo-On-Wheels program promises to make a lasting impact on local schools and groups. The program will provide interactive and educational experiences to those who may not have the opportunity to visit the zoo in person.
