The Philadelphia Cricket Club sets to host next year's PGA Truist Championship, and early sales have already exceeded expectations.

The Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown is hosting the Truist Championship next year, and sales are already booming reports Josh Carpenter for the Sports Business Journal.

The PGA tournament will take place May 8-11, 2025. The Philadelphia Cricket Club replaces the usual Charlotte venue as Quail Hollow Club prepares for the PGA Championship. Early sales for hospitality packages have surged, with nearly 60% of suites sold within the first 20 business days. These venues, accommodating 16 to 60 guests, range from $50,000 to $200,000 for four days.

Tournament executive director Joie Chitwood III is impressed by the energy and support from the Philadelphia area. “You talk about being embraced, there’s an energy that’s pretty significant,” he said. Commitments have even extended beyond the city to Baltimore and Wilmington

Questions initially arose about Truist’s decision to sponsor the event outside of its home market. However, early results have quelled concerns.

Philadelphia last hosted a major golf event in 2018 with the BMW Championship at Aronimink Golf Club, and the excitement surrounding the tournament at the A.W. Tillinghast-designed Wissahickon Course is palpable.

Philadelphia Cricket Club president Tom Sheridan shared that the local community embraces the event, adding to the excitement. “So many people in the community have reached out and talked about how important this is for the club,” he said.

The tour’s Championship Management arm will take over operations in 2025, with Chitwood also overseeing the 2026 Presidents Cup. Interest from club members has been strong, with over 100 meetings held to discuss buying opportunities. High-demand offerings like the 16-person Valley Cabins and Penn Suites have already sold out, and the premium $5,000-per-pass Cricket Club offering is also selling rapidly.
