Chhantyal worked his way up in the restaurant industry for over a decade before he started his first upscale Nirvana Indian restaurant. Since then, he has enjoyed considerable success at several more locations, including in Lafayette Hill, Blue Bell, Chestnut Hill, and Philadelphia.

His newest restaurant is located in the former Tip O’Leary’s space. Chhantyal and his wife, Sonia, have replaced the old booths with tables, updated the bathrooms, and halved the bar to make room for a hostess station. The interior is styled with stained-glass panels, golden Buddhas, and a wall of mirrors.

The food is also stunning. A native of Nepal, Chhantyal perfected ethnic cuisine at his newest location. Highlights include the gobi Manchurian appetizer, the chicken momos, the creamy butter chicken, the vegetable samosa, and the lamb madras curry.

The eatery also makes its own desserts, including the mouthwatering gulab jamun – a traditional Indian favorite consisting of fried dough balls bathed in a honey-sweet sauce.
