Three Springside Chestnut Hill Academy seniors won the teamwork award at TYE Globals, a global entrepreneurship competition, with their RENTR business venture, according to a staff report from SCH.org.

RENTR is a marketplace where the DIY community can browse rentable tools. The platform is starting with Chestnut Hill’s ZIP Code 19118 and will be adding more as it grows.

“We hope to grab a piece of the $14 billion tool rental market while solving for the underutilization of expensive tools and creating passive income for tool owners,” said Charlie Greenberg, one of the RENTR founders.

Greenberg, Alex Topping, and Andrew Blum launched their business this spring within a venture accelerator program. In June, they took their idea to Silicon Valley, California, for the annual flagship event for the Youth Entrepreneurship Division of TiE. The curated event brings together 27 chapters worldwide for a Pitch Fest.

The trio competed against significantly larger teams at TYE Globals, many of whom have been developing their business ideas for years.

“We gave a flawless presentation which truly demonstrated teamwork, given that two of us were in person and one of the team joined from another country,” said Topping.
