Gov. Josh Shapiro’s social media presence could help him land a spot on Vice President Kamala Harris’ ticket, writes Trebor Maitin for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Shapiro is the only one of the top contenders for the Democratic vice presidential nomination who taking advantage of the memes and trends behind Harris’ campaign.

“He’s a well-oiled machine,” said State Sen. John Kane.

Unlike many of his peers whose TikTok accounts are run by their offices, Shapiro often gets in front of the camera and participates in the trends.

In May, Shapiro filmed a TikTok video in his office reacting to an influencer who said she does not like store-bought pesto by saying that he does not like Pennsylvania’s $7.25 minimum wage.
