Horsham Township will once again host the annual Ukrainian Folk Festival, a celebration of Ukrainian culture and art, next month, writes Chris Compendio for the Philly Voice.

The festival will take place on August 25 at the Tryzub Ukrainian American Sport Center. The day will celebrate the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine’s independence with music and dance performances.

Visitors will be able to enjoy performances from many renowned Ukrainian artists and groups, including the Desna Ukrainian Dance Company of Toronto, the Voloshky Ukrainian Dance Ensemble of Jenkintown, pop singer and songwriter Iryna Lonchyna, and violinist Innesa Tymochko Dekajlo. The performances will be held on the festival’s outdoor stage from 1:30 to 4:30 PM.

They will be followed by the Vox Ethnika Orchestra from New York City, who will play a mix of Eastern European folk music and contemporary hits as guests engage in a public dance also known as “zabava.”

During the festival, living history groups will reenact parts of Ukrainian history. In addition, visitors will be able to enjoy an arts and crafts market as well as get a taste of traditional Ukrainian cuisine.
