Lansdale Student Putting Her Skills on National Stage at USA Football’s Junior International Cup
Tessa Wieloch, a Lansdale student-athlete, is preparing to showcase her skills on the national stage at USA Football’s Junior International Cup, reports Nick Iadonisi for 6 ABC Philadelphia.
Wieloch is part of the 17U U.S. Girls’ Flag National Team.
“We get to represent our country and play in a huge tournament, the Junior International Cup, with girls from around the world,” said Wieloch.
The teen, who has a figure skating background, had never played a group sport before picking up football and was quick to give thanks to her local teammates who helped her reach this point.
“It’s a group of amazing girls from around the Lansdale area,” she said. “We come together, we practice, and we play in tournaments. I love it because I get to interact with my teammates and I have to help pull my teammates up with them pulling me up so I’m never alone on the field.”
The team is currently practicing for the Los Angeles tournament with the Athena Athletics, a travel program in the Montgomery County area.
