Caitlin Quinn, a Lansdale Catholic High School graduate, is still amazed at the opportunities open to her thanks to flag football, writes Aaron Carter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Quinn, who is going into her junior year this fall at Milligan University in Tennessee, played flag football at Lansdale and overcame an ACL injury in her high school junior year to earn a college scholarship in the sport.
“It’s really crazy,” said the Milligan receiver and defensive back. “I never thought that flag football would happen in college. I can’t even say it was a dream come true because it wasn’t even a dream for me. It wasn’t even possible.”
Quinn caught the game-winning touchdown that sent Milligan to the NAIA women’s flag football finals.
Now she’s back home in Lansdale for the summer, coaching flag football to a new generation of players, including her younger sisters.
She’ll be imparting wisdom to the girls gained after overcoming a knee injury.
“I’ve learned that I’m a lot tougher than I thought I was,” said Quinn. “I hope if they keep working they can be even better than me … so I’m really excited for the future.”
