The Hatfield company has been delivering pork products to Pennsylvania families for over 100 years, so it was only a matter of time before a mascot named Smiley joined their family.
Smiley was born in February 1987 during National Meat Month and has lived most of his life in a cozy barn in Hatfield.
Smiley enjoys playing baseball or watching his favorite movie—“Babe.”
And of course, his favorite characters are Porky Pig and Miss Piggy.
Smiley is a close friend of the Phillie Phanatic, the official mascot of the Philadelphia Phillies.
You’ll find him frequently at Phillies games, especially during Hatfield Dollar Dog Nights when friends and fans can buy a Hatfield hot dog for $1 and participate in a number of Dollar Dog activities in Citizens Park.
Smiley was around when the Hot Dog Launcher made its first appearance at Citizen’s Park in 1996, sending hot dogs into the crowd of hungry fans.
The Hatfield mascot’s favorite thing to do is give back to the community so you’ll find him at community events and activities, from parades and supermarket openings, to fundraisers and events like the 34th annual Spring Festival.
Smiley has reached celebrity status, as a cartoon character with his own coloring book, and has even been featured as a temporary tattoo design, as well as showing up on Hatfield’s logos and branding materials.
