The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center in Pennsburg is part of the Lehigh Valley’s Passport to History program this weekend, Friday, July 19 to Sunday, July 21.
As a free event for all, it is a great opportunity to explore the rich history of our region. This weekend features activities for all ages and interests: a new model train exhibit as well as quilt exhibits, crafts for young and old, a special concert on Sunday, and guided tours of an 1826 barn. Hours are 10 AM to 4 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 4 PM on Sunday.
Special exhibits are headlined by Next Stop, Pennsburg: A History of Model Trains that just opened. Train aficionados will enjoy seeing dozens of models, and folks can search for them with a treasure hunt guide.
For those with other interests, the internationally traveling Tribes quilt exhibit from the European Patchwork Meeting is on view along with an in-house exhibit of embroidered quilts of the early 1900s.

On Sunday at 2:30 PM, enjoy a short concert by Pennsburg resident and mezzo-soprano Ann Fogler of Schumann’s Frauenliebe und leben. Fogler is lauded for her enchanting voice that has graced diverse stages, from captivating audiences with The Cambridge Chamber Ensemble to enchanting listeners at the Nahant Music Festival, where her mastery spans Baroque to New Music styles.
Fogler holds a Bachelor of Music from Dickinson College and a Master of Music from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She will be accompanied by Vincent Trovato, Staff Accompanist for the Muhlenberg College Music Department. Trovato has conducted over 40 area productions for Muhlenberg, The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Company, DeSales University, and Civic Theatre.
