Profits Soar at Montgomery County Country Clubs Since Pandemic

Country club revenue has soared since the pandemic, both locally and nationally.

Montgomery County country club profits surged during the pandemic, following a nationwide trend that saw revenues and expenses increase for nonprofit country clubs, writes Andy Medici and Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

In fact, three local clubs were among the 10 nonprofit country clubs in the region that reported the highest revenues in 2022.

Overall, an analysis of over 2,000 nonprofit country clubs in the nation showed that country club revenue rose by a median of 24 percent between 2019 and 2022. The Philadelphia region significantly exceeded the national average with a reported median increase of 38 percent.

Merion Golf Club in Ardmore reported the third-highest revenue in 2022 at $14.33 million. This represents an increase of 20.05 percent compared to 2020.

Manufacturers’ Golf & Country Club in Fort Washington ranked in eighth place with a revenue of $7.57 million. That is a whopping 45.1 percent increase compared to 2019.

Cedarbrook Country Club placed tenth on the list with a revenue of $7.47 million. The Blue Bell Country Club saw its revenue grow by 67.8 percent compared to 2020.
