Former Wissahickon Star Athlete Continues to Impress at Manor College
Wissahickon High School graduate Eddie Fortescue continues to excel at Manor College as a three-sport athlete, writes Mike Cabrey for The Times Herald.
Fortescue was a member of four sports teams – soccer, basketball, baseball, and football – during his high school years. He decided to focus just on baseball at Arcadia University, but he quickly realized that being limited to just one sport was not for him.
He decided to switch to Manor College, where he soon became a soccer and basketball standout. This year, he has added baseball to his schedule once more.
Fortescue is a four-time United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-American in both soccer and basketball as well as a six-time USCAA Academic All-American. He was also the commencement speaker who represented Manor’s Bachelor Degree students.
The versatile athlete graduated with a degree in Sport Management.
“I’m blessed for having that opportunity,” said Fortescue. “And actually in my speech I talked about the three sports in saying how everyone should have an opportunity and for everyone to take that opportunity.”
Fortescue is hoping to continue taking advantage of the opportunity during his two remaining years of college eligibility.
