Two Montco Routes Among 20 Best Scenic Bike Trails in Philadelphia Area
Two Montgomery County bike routes are among the twenty best scenic trails in the Philadelphia region that are guaranteed to meet all of your biking needs, writes Bailey King for the Philadelphia Magazine.
Perkiomen Trail is perfect for bike enthusiasts who are looking for a day-long ride. The path is mostly between ten and twelve feet wide with a crushed-stone surface. The trail is surrounded by beautiful open fields and wooded hillsides you can fully enjoy as you ride.
You will also run into plenty of watering hole trailheads as you go alongside Perkiomen Creek. The 20-mile trail connects Lower Perkiomen Valley Park, Central Perkiomen Valley Park, and Green Lane Park.
If you just want to enjoy a few hours of easy biking close to nature, head to Valley Forge National Historical State Park. This offers 19 miles of authorized biking trails, many of which are flat and unpaved.
And if you are looking specifically for a paved trail, the 8.7-mile Joseph Plumb Martin Trail on the south side of the park will meet your needs.
