Philadelphia Magazine Celebrates ‘Best of Philly’ Highlights Over Last 50 Years
Philadelphia Magazine’s Best of Philly is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary, writes Bradford Pearson for the Philadelphia Magazine.
In honor of the upcoming milestone, the magazine has published highlights from the last five decades, and the latest suburban edition includes both Taylor Swift and Narberth.
The publication first named Swift its Best Philly Teen Idol in August 2009, after she released Fearless, her first album that spent 11 weeks atop the Billboard charts and sold over 12 million copies worldwide.
“We knew the first time we heard ‘Tim McGraw’ that this Wyomissing-bred country singer was headed for stardom,” stated the feature.
Wyomissing is a borough in neighboring Berks County that was mostly unknown before Swift became the megastar she is today.
Fifteen years prior to Swift’s breakout album, Narberth was featured on the Best of Philly list.
“Little Narberth has gone from being ‘the armpit of the Main Line’ to its yuppie capital,” stated the publication in 1994.
