Philadelphia Mag Finds Its New Editor in Oreland Native Kate Dailey
Kate Dailey, an Oreland native who was managing editor at Vox.com for the last three years, is now the new editor of the Philadelphia Mag.
During her time at Vox.com, Dailey set strategic initiatives, established a supporting newsroom culture, and founded a grant program to fund ambitious journalism projects. She was also instrumental in building an editorial fellowship aimed at identifying and training diverse talent that was later adopted across Vox Media.
Her previous experiences include serving as a digital planning editor at BBC News’s Washington bureau as well as a senior magazine writer for the BBC. Other magazines she has worked for include Newsweek, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, and The Dubliner Magazine.
Dailey graduated from Springfield Township High School before moving on to Penn State University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
“I’ve been reading Philadelphia since I was a kid,” said Dailey. “It’s what made me want to be a journalist. The idea that I can bring all of the skills I’ve acquired during my career — service journalism, features editing, digital strategy — and put them to work in my hometown is so exciting.”
