A Cheltenham Cottage Has Because a Dream Home Thanks to Some Carefully Curated Antiques

A Cheltenham woman has turned her cottage into a dream home thanks to her collection of antiques.

A Montgomery County home in Cheltenham built in 1868 features historic objects found at vintage shows and flea markets, making it a dream home, writes Sally A. Downey for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

When owner Barbara Kotzin bought the home in 1973, she replaced the asbestos siding with white aluminum siding, installed missing second-floor shutters, and painted the trim blue and purple.

Inside is bright and airy. The drapes and valances are cream, and the floral wall coverings are in pale hues or cheerfully designed.

The living room is furnished with an Eastlake-style rocker and loveseat that is upholstered in a fabric with a mauve and white pattern.

One corner sits a hanging lamp of raspberry glass. Another lamp with faces of women painted on a globe sits next to the piano and photos in antique frames.

The dining room is furnished with an oval oak table and chairs, an oak sideboard, and a corner china cabinet.

Among the other things Kotzin has kept is the kitchen’s 1950s white sink and electric stove.

“It works perfectly,” she said.

Kotzin possesses a large collection of antique objects, many of which she purchased at antique shows, shops, and flea markets.

They add another layer of flair to the home.
