PECO Hosts Jr. Infrastructure Academy for High School Students at MCCC April 19
Montgomery County Community College is set to host the innovative Jr. Infrastructure Academy, organized by PECO, on Friday, April 19, 2024.
This event, dedicated to empowering the next generation of utility industry professionals, will feature a series of hands-on activities designed for high school juniors and seniors from Montgomery County.
The Jr. Infrastructure Academy aims to introduce more than 80 students from five local high schools—Central Montco Technical High School, North Montco Technical High School, Pottstown High School, Norristown Area High School, and Eastern Montco Tech High School—to the vast opportunities within the energy sector. From 10 AM to 12 PM participants will engage in interactive breakout sessions, live demonstrations on safe energy practices, and mock interviews to simulate real-world job application scenarios.
Held at the college’s Blue Bell Campus within the Health Sciences Center, this initiative reflects ECO’s commitment to fostering a skilled workforce attuned to the future demands of the utility industry. Attendees will also gain insight into PECO’s hiring processes and the critical roles that support the energy infrastructure.
The event is also notable for the involvement of distinguished guests such as Dr. Victoria L. Bastecki-Perez, president of Montgomery County Community College, and Neil Makhija, vice chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. Both are expected to offer their insights on the importance of industry-focused education and community partnerships in building career pathways for young people.
This gathering not only promises valuable educational experiences but also offers a media and photo opportunity to capture the proactive engagement of students as they delve into the technical and practical aspects of energy work.
