Construction of an apartment building at a former CVS property in Hatboro is making progress.

The developer of the long-dormant former Hatboro CVS site is starting to make progress towards construction, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch.

According to borough officials, plans to develop a four-story building with 36 apartments and retail space on South York Road are inching forward. The apartments will be “high-end, professional,” said 24-28 South York Road Associates, which is developing the property.

Hatboro Borough Council approved conditional use and land development for the property in late November. Currently, the developer is working on filing agreements, posting financial security, and getting permit applications.

“We will keep everyone updated on the groundbreaking,” said borough officials.

The CVS project is the first one to receive the stamp of approval from the Borough Council under the borough’s mixed-use Town Center Ordinance.

The ordinance makes it possible for developers to submit proposals with building heights of up to 60 feet if they meet specific guidelines. This means that Hatboro’s downtown district could in the future have taller buildings and apartments. At present the maximum allowed height for buildings along York Road is 35 feet.
