Wall Street Journal: Fort Washington’s Toll Brothers Explores Creative Work-From-Home Setups

Despite employers looking for workers to return to the office, demand for creative and comfortable work-from-home setups remains high, writes Brett Berk for The Wall Street Journal.

“People really want to enjoy their life as they’re working, and be able to have that mix of both,” said Manny Varas, founder and CEO of MV Group, a luxury real-estate developer in Florida.

With about a quarter of total American workdays happening off-site, what does that home office environment look like?

High-tech wellness features, Bespoke video backdrops, and space to gather with colleagues, just for starters.

Home offices are moving around, no longer limited to one location in the house.

“People want more than one office or dedicated space for working,” said Lisa McClelland, senior vice president of design studios for Toll Brothers.

That means a home theater could double as a meeting space or video calls.

More focus on wellness could mean a meditation room or yoga studio, or bathroom spas, McClelland said.

A covered outdoor space becomes the new al-fresco office.

It will all come with new infrastructure, from expanded Wi-Fi to better lighting, to noise cancelling wall coverings and upholstered furniture
