Education pays, especially for those who go into medicine, as the ten highest-paying jobs in the Philadelphia area requiring a graduate degree are all in the medical field, according to a ranking by Stacker.
To determine which 50 jobs in Philadelphia requiring a graduate degree pay the most, Stacker used Bureau of Labor Statistics data.
Jobs are ranked based on their median annual pay as of May 2022.
The first ten spots are a tie between surgeons (all other), radiologists, psychiatrists, obstetricians and gynecologists, general internal medicine physicians, emergency medicine physicians, dermatologists, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
While the exact median annual wage for these positions is unknown, they all make at least $239,200 per year or $115 per hour.
Family medicine physicians are at No. 11 with a median annual wage of $218,240, or a median hourly wage of $104.93.
Physicists are next at No. 12 with a $209,850 median annual wage, followed by nurse anesthetists at No. 13 with pay of $205,880. General pediatricians who earn an average of $204,340 per year are at No. 14.
The top 15 is rounded out by dentists (all other specialists) with a median annual wage of $192,670.
