Acclaimed hairstylist Artur Kirsh, who runs the salon bearing his name in Bala Cynwyd, has worked his magic on supermodels, Celine Dion, Betsey Johnson, and many other celebrities, writes Gina Lizzo for the Main Line Today.

Later this month, Kirsh will release his first book, 1,000 Questions Behind the Chair. The book compiles a selection of questions he has been asked by clients over the years, as well as the snippets of wisdom and inspiration he has picked up.

“I included conversations and lots of the quotes my clients shared with me throughout the years,” said Kirsh. “There are no names in the book — I wanted it to be very raw. There are a lot of comments about what to do or not to do with hair.”

To gather additional questions for the book, Kirsh brought a box and some sticky notes to his salon.

“I would say, ‘I’m writing a book. You can ask me any questions you want. Just don’t put your name on it,'” he said. “Then, once upon a time, I opened the box.”
